Hungarian U21 side beat their Irish counterparts

Szolnoki and Kovacs helped a young Hungarian side to a 2-1 victory

The Hungarian U21 side played out their qualification game with Ireland, at Kecskemet on Wednesday. Antal Roth included Roland Szolnoki and Istvan Kovacs in his starting line up, with the latter scoring the second goal in the win. Hungary are now third in their group as they go into next Monday's final group match against Liechtenstein. Roth played the following side: Gulácsi Péter - Sváb Dániel, Kádár Tamás, Fodor Ferenc, Szolnoki Roland - Simon Ádám, Fiola Attila - Bódi Ádám (Varga Roland, 94.), Kovács István (Beliczky Gergő, 88.), Gosztonyi András (Balázs Benjámin, 66.) - Futács Márkó.

A break away down the left hand side from Marko Futacs, after 26 minutes, ended with him cutting it back to Istvan Kovacs, who made no mistake from close range to score Hungary's second goal. An earlier Futacs goal had given the U21 side an early lead. The Irish pulled a goal back from the penalty spot, and Hungary missed their own spot kick in the final minute of the first half. Roth's side held out to clinch the three points in the end.
