Videoton squad turn to the road and track

Vidi's players spent the day away from the football pitch

Gyorgy Mezey gave his squad a day off from the football pitch, as he sent his players on a 7km run, which was then followed by a 44km bike ride. The 28 strong group began the challenge from outside their hotel in Balaton Almadi. The first group set off at 9am, with two players making the entire journey on a bike. They were Attlia Polonkai, who has a slight knee injury, while Akos Elek has a sore throat, which is why the pair were excused from the 7km run. The trip took the Vidi squad around the scenic routes around Lake Balaton, passing Balatonalmádi - Alsóőrs - Balatonfüred - Tihany - Balatonfüred and Balatonalmádi on the way. The players switched to bikes at Alsóőrs, with the players pedalling around the shores of the lake.

Club owner Istvan Garancsi, who is no stranger to the outdoor life, ended up in first place with a lead of 26 minutes, completing the event in 2 hours 20 minutes. In second place was Roland Szolnoki and Bence Somodi, who completed the 51km in 2 hour 46 minutes. Garancsi often goes on long bike rides, and his other love is mountain climbing, so it was no surprise that his stamina, helped him to come in at the head of the pack. Two training sessions are planned for Thursday, with the morning session seeing the players head into a gym for a workout. They will then get the football's out in the afternoon on the astro-turf at Füred. The squad will head back to Szekesfehervar on Saturday, with a friendly game against FK Spartak Zlatibor Voda, due to kick off at 13:30pm.
