Videoton cruised to their first win of their Italian pre-season with goals from Sandor, Nikolics and an Alves double
Videoton produce a good performance in this comfortable 4-0 win over a local Italian reprentative side. Two goals in each half made the difference on a warm evening in the lovely setting of Brentonico. Around 200 supporters turned out to watch the Hungarian champions play a good passing game. Paulo Sousa in what was his first match as manager of the red and blues fielded the following side: Tujvel - Szolnoki, Vaskó, Horváth, Hidvégi - Nagy, Vasziljevics, Sándor, Lencse - Nikolics N., Vujovics.
Somodi - Szolnoki, Vaskó, Horváth, Hidvégi - Gosztonyi, Polonkai, Szakály - Lencse, Alves, Osei. Videoton continued to press forward in search of more goals. Osei showed that he has pace upfront while Uros Nikolics played alongside Polonkai in the heart of midfield. The home crowd urged their side on, but Videoton always had too much for them over the ninety minutes.
Horvath came off and Jankovics replaced him, as Paulo Sousa continued to take a closer look at his entire squad. Liptak replaced Vasko, while Lazar came on for the young Szolnoki. Spanish new signing Hector went on for Hidvegi at left back and he looked neat along that side. Elek then came on for Polonkai to complete the changes. A Gosztonyi cross from the right was met by a diving header from Alves, who made it 3-0 to Vidi, with the keeper given little chance. A defensive error close to full time allowed Alves to steal the ball and he calmly beat the stranded Italian keeper to round of a good evening's work, and make it 4-0!
